To complete a virtual lab and answer the question: How does an atoms structure related to its position on the Periodic Table.
To adopt an element. Choose one of the given elements and complete the adoption papers. You will learn all about one chosen element and prepare your “brag book” to share with the class.
Virtual Lab- Begin by going to the textbook website: http://www.glencoe.com There you need to complete the information. Your state: Michigan, User: student and choose “science” from the subject drop down box. Choose a family/group from the Periodic table that you would like to learn about.Then, select several elements form that family, one at a time by clicking each element’s box on the table.Open the table/graph and record data about the element in the appropriate place on the table.
Review the data you collected from the family of elements.Decide how the elements compare and record this information in your Journal.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 with a period of elements.
Click across a row of elements one at a time.Observe what happens to the atomic numbers and record it in your journal.
Choose 4 elements from anywhere in the periodic table.Record their masses in the table.Explain how their masses relate to each other and their positions on the table and record this in your journal.
Explore the periodic chart in other ways.Use your journal to make valid generalizations about the periodic table.
